4/12/08-4/19/08 Saturday-Saturday

This week on the last Saturday, we went to the U.C.Davis picnic day! At picnic day some of the things that we saw included, wiener dog races, a demonstration of foil fencing, a nematode exhibit, and the parade.

Here are some pictures:

The one on the top is the wiener dog races, the one in the middle is a cloned cow, and the one on the bottom is some containers with different types of fungus in them.

Also this week we got to make some homemade Phoenician bread. It took up a lot of flower but it tasted really good. What we did was we mixed 6 cups of flour and two teaspoons of salt. Then we mixed some yeast in warm water then poured it into the flour/salt mixture and mixed for a while. When the the mix became dough, we kneaded it for about 10 minutes then put it into a buttered bowl and put a damp towel over it and let it rise for two hours. After the two hours, we put it in the oven at (I think) 450 degrees Fahrenheit and left it in there for about 10 to 15 minutes. When the bread was done, we tried it and it tasted really good.

Here are some pictures of us making the bread:

The one on the top left is the bread after it was done baking, the one on the top right is the bread before it started to rise, the one in the middle is me kneading the dough, and the one on the bottom is the dough after it was done rising.

4/3/08-4/11/08 Thursday-Friday

This week for Story
of the World (ancient
history) we
made some fried
plantains and burned
some incense.

Here's a picture of
the plantains and incense:

The one on the left is Wilson blowing out the flame on the cone (you're supposed to do that) and the one on the right is the the fried plantains while they're being fried on the pan. The fried plantains tasted pretty good. Also, the incense was from ancient egypt and the fried plantains were from ancient africa. The usual also happened during the week. I also had a fencing tournament on Saturday, did Star Testing on Wednesday and Thursday, and we went to the vernal pools.

Here are some pictures of the vernal pools and the fencing tournament:

The one on the left is the fencing tournament and the one on the right is a picture of the actual vernal pool. The field that surrounded the vernal pool was mostly tall grass and there were also a lot of flowers that got a lot of pollen on our pants and shoes. After the vernal pools we went to U.C. Davis for lunch.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

On my game of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I have unlocked every character, completed the Subspace Emissary (on Easy) and collected many (but not all) trophies. My current favorite characters are: Ike, Meta Knight, Bowser, Ganondorf, Wolf, Sonic, Marth, and Olimar. On the Subspace Emissary, one of the best for getting through the mission (not including boss fights) is Wario. I don't know why, but when I play as Wario on the Subspace Emissary, I rarely get destroyed. One of the best on boss fights is Toon Link. Toon Links Down Aerial Attack can destroy bosses quickly.

3/18/08-3/25/08 Monday-Monday

This week I did an art lesson, 2 fencing lessons, and a clarinet lesson. Wilson went to preschool on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Joey went to dance lessons on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and an art lesson. She also went ice skating on Friday. On Saturday we went to see a play of Wind in the Willows.

Here is a picture of some of the actors-}

The one in green was Toad, the one on
her far side was Mole, and the one her
close side was Rat. We went to the
Stage 9 theater in Folsom.
For Easter
on the 23rd, we went to my uncles house.
We used natural dyes to color our eggs.
Here's some pictures:

We dyed them with red cabbage, the leaves of some vegetables, coffee powder, turmeric, and onion skins.

I did most
of my homeschooling for the week on

Wednesday/Thursday. In-between I
did some reading, video games, TV,
a movie, and some regular games.

New format

Instead of doing each separate day I will be doing it by the week.
