Saturday-Friday 11/15/08-11/21/08

This week we learned about some Thanksgiving things and in Social Studies, we learned about medieval France. Along with learning about France, we made some French Doughnuts, called Beignets. We also leaned about the Aborigines in ancient Australia, and the Maori in ancient New Zealand. We also tried some vegemite from Australia.
Here are some pictures:
The one on the bottom is an Onomatopoeia poem about Australian Animals.
The one on the top left is the story board we made with the story "Tidilick the Frog" on it. The one on the top right is a jar of Vegemite.

Satday-Friday 11/9/08-11/14/08

This week we created a felt storyboard for telling stories. What we do is cut out pieces of felt to resemble the characters in the story and then act out the story using the board.

Here are some pictures of the story board:
We currently have two stories, "The Persimmon Monster" and "The Old Woman and the Red Pumpkin". The two on the top are of "The Old Woman and the Red Pumpkin", and the two on the bottom were of "The Persimmon Monster".
This week we were sick and didn't go to most of our lessons. I still went to my speech and clarinet lessons, but didn't go to band or fencing.

11/1/08-11/7/08 Sunday-Friday

This week we did a lot of Asian based homeschooling. We painted some Chinese symbols, learned about ancient China, Korea, and Japan through Story of the World, did Japanese origami, and we also ate some teriyaki noodles with chopsticks.

Here are the pictures of some of the Asian things we did:

The one on the bottom is us eating with chopsticks, the one on the top right is me doing Chinese calligraphy, and the one on the top left is me doing origami.

Also this week, we had to do our response to literature writing test. Both my practice and real stories for the test were both about a someone who was was disabled.
