5/13/08-5/19/08 Tuesday-Monday

This week we got to go bowling! Alexander (one of Wilson's friends from preschool) had a birthday party on Saturday at a bowling alley (is that what they're called?). Wilson, Alexander, and whoever else Alexander invited, had three lanes to bowl, and Joey and I got our own lane. We played three games, the first game we didn't get very many points, the second one we got more than double the amount than the last one (we had the bumpers up) and I got two strikes in a row with that game, and the last one we did even better (still with the bumpers up), and I won each one. We had pizza for dinner at Strikes (the name of the bowling alley). After we were done bowling, we went to find Wilson in the Arcade Room. Wilson still had some money left on his game card (that's what Strikes uses instead of tokens) so we played Air Hockey. We didn't bring a camera so we couldn't get any pictures.

Also this week I did a lot of embroidery. Here are some pictures of the things that I did:

From left to right, top to bottom: 1.something that looks like a compass 2.something 3.the first one that I did 4.something 5. something, something, and interlocking triangles.

So embroidery turned out to be pretty fun. I like it more than crocheting and hand crocheting.
Overall, this was a pretty fun week.

5/7/08-5/12/08 Wednesday-Monday

This week had included Joey's birthday and the Whole Earth Festival at U.C. Davis. The Whole Earth Festival was three days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Here are some pictures of the Whole Earth Festival:

The pictures in order from left to right, top to bottom: 1. My Dad hula-hooping. 2. Some handmade, clay bowls. 3. My Mom and sister watching someone weaving on a loom. 4. A grouping of solar panels. 5. Me hula-hooping.

While we were there, we met my Aunt Steph, Tito (Uncle) Randy, and Amanda. The solar panels were powering something close to the area and it seemed like it was part of either the stage where the bands played, or the food area. We had lunch at the Whole Earth Festival and the interesting thing was that there was no meat, everything was recycled, and after we were done with our (not paper) plates, forks, cups, and even chopsticks, we had to take them to a booth where we got approx. $1 for giving the plates/forks/spoons/cups/chopsticks back. What I had for lunch were garlic fries (they were really good) and a corn dog (the corn dog was actually a tofu dog (it didn't taste exactly like a corn dog).

On Sunday, Joey had her birthday party (her actual birthday was on Wednesday -- also it was Mother's day!). She decided to make her birthday party a 70's-themed party. She only invited her two girl cousins, Emily and Sydney, to come to her party. The first thing that they did was dancing. We hung a mini disco ball on the ceiling and flashed lights on it and played a part of Saturday Night Fever for the girls to dance to. After that, we had dinner. The girls (Emily, Sydney, and Joey) had 70's TV dinners, Tang, and I had spaghetti and Tang. After that, we went to the roller rink at Rollerland and the girls and Wilson skated around in the rink. Emily and Sydney used roller blades, and Joey and Wilson used roller skates. I didn't skate. Instead I had cotton candy, some root beer, and got to play one of the arcade games that they had there. I had fun and they had fun. When we got back the girls did macrame and embroidery while we watched Charlie's Angels. The day after her party my Mom taught me how to embroider, too!

Here are some pictures of Joey's party:

The one on the far left is my Dad, Joey, Emily,Tito (Uncle) Randy, Amanda, and Wilson dancing to Saturday Night Fever. The one in the middle is (from left to right) Sydney, Joey, and Emily. The one on the far right is one of the TV dinners that the girls ate.
Overall, it was a pretty fun weekend

4/29/08-5/6/08 Tuesday-Tuesday

This week the usual happened. The things that were not usual for this week were playing in my band concert and attending the CNCH handweavers conference.

I'm going to start with the band concert. The concert took place at a Presbyterian church in Fair Oaks.

Here are some pictures of my band concert:

The one on the left is me when I am playing one of the four songs we performed, and the one on the right is Wilson, Joey, and I before the concert.

For the handweaver's conference, my Mom's online shop Gosh Yarn It! had a booth so we could sell some of her fiber arts supplies. Joey and my Mom got to be the vendors of the booth and my Dad, Wilson, and I got to be vendor helpers. Most of the time I was there I was resting or sitting in a little place behind the booth. I got to see people spinning on spinning wheels and weaving on looms. We looked at samples of baskets, clothes, rugs, beads and fiber from different weaving guilds.

The conference was in a hotel so we explored it a little bit. There were a lot of ramps in the hotel going slightly up or slightly down so if you were in a wheelchair you would have a hard time going up and you would start going too fast on the way down.

Here are some pictures of the conference:

The one on the left is a picture of my Mom, Joey and Aunt Jess in the booth during the conference, and the one on the right is me helping to take down the booth.

That was pretty much all of the unusual things about this week.

4/20/08-4/28/08 Sunday-Monday

This week all of the normal occurred (band, clarinet lessons, fencing, etc.) along with the unique things of the week. Here are the unique things for the week and the day: during the weekend, we went to a lace making exhibit.

Here's some pictures:

The one on the left is a picture of someone doing a certain type of lace making called bobbin lace. The one on the right is a display of some of the things that some of the people had made.

On Sunday we went to a Maidu Spring celebration and California Native American craft.

Here's some pictures of the celebration:

The one on the left is some Native American dancers (you can't see them very well), and the one on the right is some baskets that someone made. There was also a museum that had some of the Maidu history during times like the Gold Rush. One of the most fun things about that trip is that got to touch a bear skull. One of the worst things about that trip was that it was really hot.

This week has been really hot and I would prefer winter weather over this week's weather. We went to the park and library a couple times because it was (kind of) nice weather. I got most of my home schooling done on Thursday this week. I played a lot of Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Ben 10 (did I tell you that I got a new game?) with Wilson.
